This book is a record of the 50 years Widad Kamel Kawar spent researching, collecting and preserving part of the heritage of Palestine. This endeavour evolved into the Widad Kawar Collection, the largest to date of Palestinian traditional dress and accessories.
Over the span of almost two years and several trips to Amman, Jordan, I have had the privilage of photographing the entire Widad Kawar collection which comprises of more than 3,000 items.This project was one of the most challenging and most interesting. I not only learned about the collection, but the personal stories of the women behind each richly embroidered dress I photographed.

Unlike previously published books on Palestinian Embroidery, this book is the first to document all the different motifs by origin and names used on the old dresses. During the making of this book that I was first introduced to the extensive and rich Palestinian embroidery collection of Widad Kamel Kawar.
The project required taking full and detailed shots of the embroidery work on eich dress and other items to better identify the different motifs and their origins.
